Athletics are a central part of campus life at Posnack School. From Lower School PE all the way through graduation, Posnack School offers an incredible array of sports for students to choose from including varsity football, basketball, soccer, swimming, volleyball, cross country, as well many intramural and house leagues.

Athletics are vital in the education and physical development of every Posnack School student. In addition to fostering lifelong health habits, Physical Education reinforces lessons learned in other disciplines, the importance of setting and meeting goals, and the importance of working as a team.

With the completion of the new state-of-the-art Ram Gymnasium located in Fischer High School, the Posnack School boasts one of the finest school athletic facilities in South Florida.

Meet the Director of Athletics

Coach Wayne Stofsky

Coach Wayne Stofsky

Director of Athletics

Wayne Stofsky is Director of Athletics at Posnack Jewish Day School. Coach Stofsky, who has a Master of Science Degree in Sports Administration, is a South Florida native. He attended Nova High and was recognized as the Broward County High School Baseball Player of the Year in 1985. He was also named to the Sun-Sentinel’s All-time Broward County High School Football Team. Coach Stofsky went on to Louisiana State University (LSU) and was fortunate enough to participate in two, consecutive College World Series. He finished his college playing career at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and, in 1990, was named a Pre-Season All-American by ESPN. He played baseball professionally for the Salt Lake City Trappers of the Pioneer League and was a player/coach for Piacenza Red Devil Baseball just outside Milan, Italy.

Prior to joining Posnack School, Coach Stofsky led the Pine Crest School’s baseball team to an impressive 17-8-1 record and was named 2015 FHSAA District Coach of the Year. In the process, he oversaw several facility upgrades and had numerous student-athletes commit to prestigious institutions including Duke, Cornell, University of Chicago, University of Richmond, Clemson, and the University of Alabama. Coach Stofsky was also the head coach at Cooper City High, where he turned around the baseball program in just two years and was named 2014 FHSAA District Coach of the Year. In 2004, he started the varsity baseball program at the Sagemont School in Weston and, in just two years, had them playing in the district championship game.

In between his playing and coaching career, Coach Stofsky spent six years in broadcast television as a sports anchor and reporter at network affiliates for ABC and NBC, where he covered the Super Bowl, World Series, and several NCAA Championship contests.
Coach Stofsky has been an avid volunteer for the Fort Lauderdale Maccabi Delegation, having run their baseball program since 2010. In the process, his teams have taken home 3 gold medals and a silver. He is also the former President of Cooper City Optimist Club and sits on the Entrepreneur’s Council at the Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship at Nova Southeastern University.

Coach Arlen Restler

Coach Arlen Restler

Associate Director of Athletics

Coach Arlen Restler is the Posnack School’s Associate Director of Athletics. Prior to coming to the Posnack School, Coach Restler was an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at the American Heritage School in Plantation, and was part of its nationally-recognized athletic department (ranked #7 in 2008 by Sports Illustrated and ranked #1 in 2012 by MaxPreps). He has also coached boys basketball at the Maccabi Games for the past four years with Team Boca, who he helped lead to back-to back-gold medals in 2009 (San Antonio, TX), and 2010 (Baltimore, MD), and a bronze medal in 2012 (Memphis, TN). Coach Restler has run several South Florida basketball camps in past years.

Coach Cindy Lyon

Coach Cindy Lyon

Associate Director of Athletics

Coach Cindy Lyon is Associate Director of Athletics at Posnack School. Prior to joining the RAMs, she was Athletic Director at Scheck Hillel for 14 years.  Coach Lyon is a graduate of Florida State University and holds a degree in Physical Education.  Additionally, she has a specialized coaching degree and is a Certified Athletic Administrator.  Her coaching background includes varsity, middle school, and lower school basketball, volleyball, softball and flag football. Coach Lyon started the first tackle football team at a Jewish school in 2008. And, in 2016,  she oversaw the first Jewish day school soccer program to to win a state title.
